Cha Cha Cha Changes.....

I am going to explain the happenings of this post, and then perhaps (no guarantees though) back track a little bit in the next post with evidence of our 4th of July weekends.  But in the meantime........

In the words of David Bowie, Vance and I have been undergoing a lot of "changes" lately. It feels like so many, in fact, that I simply just don't know where to begin....

So.....

Let's start with work.

Ever since I have known Vance, we have somewhat worked together. We met at Macey's grocery store, (on aisle 9- the pickle aisle next to the glutten free product) where we both worked at the time. Then, I got hired as a graphic designer at Zoobies and booked out of Maceys. A couple months later, Vance was hired to come work at the warehouse in Zoobies, and therefore also quit Maceys. We were co-workers yet again :)

Note: For those of you who don't know, Zoobies has nothing to do with BYU, although one might think that, considering it is located in Provo, UT and is indeed called Zoobies.  For more information about Zoobies, go to this website. I think you'll like what you see :) http://zoobies.com/

Anyways,  the warehouse at Zoobies just moved to Pennsylvania. Sure, Vance could up and move to Penn to keep his job at the warehouse, but since that would be a rather silly/unlikely decision, he searched for a new job instead.

And he got one!

Vance will still get to keep his title as warehouse dude, but now he works for a scrapbooking company called Lifestyle Crafts. What a man, eh? He goes from plush animals, to crafty supplies :) It sounds like a really great place though, and I'm very proud of him. The hours will work perfectly with his upcoming school schedule as well. Woot!

Then there's my work. I knew the day would come when the head designer who hired me would leave, and pass his baton to me as new head designer. But I honestly prayed it wouldn't come so soon. I have learned so much working at Zoobies, and they really took a chance on me, but I still feel inadequate to be the one and only designer on the Provo team. It can be a very time consuming and intense job to deal with sometimes, and I'm sad I don't have anyone to relate with who knows or understands what all my job entails and is really like. My co-worker had become a great friend and will be missed. I sure hope I will be able to train whoever joins me as a designer in the future. There is no handbook and it's kind of a made up system; a system that has worked just fine for us but that I hope I can explain.

 I worry too much :)

Then there's the move. Vance and I are currently in between homes right now. We just barely sold our contract today for our one bedroom apartment in Provo, and are nearly all moved out. I'd been there for nearly a year, and that is where our marriage began, so I will always look back on that place with a little bit of fondness. Didn't seem like the day would come, but it has. We are basically moved into our new place, a basement apartment in a tri-plex in Orem. Our friends, the Humes informed us about the place when their neighbors were moving out. They told us the price, and that it was 2 bedrooms, so we snagged it when we had the chance! It is located right next to UVU so Vance can just walk to school, and we are excited to have such great friends as neighbors.

The move has been very long and tiring. You'd think after the millionth move in 7 years, I'd be a pro at it by now, but alas that is not the case. I'll never be good at moving, and I most definitely will never, ever
enjoy it.

We have a spider predicament in our new home, hence why I'm thinking the monthly rate is so cheap. If any of you at all know me, you will know that one of my biggest fears in life is eight legged freaks. I am the epitome of Little Miss Muffet. Thus, I currently live in constant paranoia, and have used more elbow grease in maintaining a home to meet all precautions, and set more booby traps than I ever have before. I refuse to let them win! How can a girl relax where there could potentially be a big ol' nasty jerk laying eggs in her clothes or hanging out on her couch or bed with her? (Insert extreme and utter shudders). I make Vance inspect the bed every night before I can crawl into sleep, and he has to tuck me in afterwards, or else I get scared.

I cannot wait to look back on "that time" in my life when I lived with all the spiders in constant fear, and have it be just that: a memory. Every newlywed goes through "trials" similar to this, so I guess it was expected.....ah the joys of being poor :) It really is a great place though. If there were no freaks, it would be perfect.

Lastly, just when we thought we were done with Provo, we got callings in a Young Singles Adult Ward in Provo on BYU campus. Vance has been called to serve as a second counselor in the bishopric! Can you believe it? And I have a calling in the Relief Society. We are so excited! We have only been a couple of times, but our ward and the people in it are all terrific. This is not at all what we would have ever expected, but we both trust in the Lord and know this is where we need to be. It is so crazy to already be back in a singles ward. It was less than a year ago that I was attending one, and now I've returned. I feel right at home :)

Thus, nothing is the same in our life as it was just a few short weeks ago. New jobs, new home, new locations, and new ward. But we love all of our cha cha cha changes!
